Bio: Eng. Abdulrahman Al Harmoodi graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2013 followed by a master’s degree in project management in 2017. He is also a member of the UAE Society of Engineers. With more than 11 years of experience, he began his career as a project engineer in the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme and then progressed to become the Head of the Projects Follow-up Section. After 7 years in housing fields, he joined the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in 2020 as Head of Dams and Water Facilities Operation and Maintenance Section where he is currently the Director of the Dams and Water Facilities Department. During this period, he attended several training courses in the field of engineering project management, sustainability projects, green buildings, the art of dialogue and negotiation, and joined several courses on preparing leaders and qualifying the rookie rank. Moreover, he also represented the Ministry in several local and international conferences and exhibitions and participated in several teams and committees at the institutional/ national level such as the Biosecurity Strategy Preparation Team, the Joint Emergency Assessment Team and the Climate Change Impact Study Team on Infrastructure. In addition, he participated in the preparation and review of several laws, legislations and regulations that contributed to enhancing the quality and efficiency of infrastructure assets in the country.He is also keen to developing human cadres and work systems by employing artificial intelligence techniques and the latest methods in the field of monitoring and managing the assets of dams and water facilities. He also possesses several digital, managerial and technical skills such as project management, cybersecurity, and increased productivity.

Dr. Babak Bozorgy

Bio: Dr. Babak Bozorgy is a Chartered Professional Civil/Water Engineer and a Fellow member of Engineers Australia and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (FIEAust, CPEng, NER, RPEQ). He has a PhD in Water Resources Engineering on the topic of Flood Risk Management and over 29 years of experience in design of wet utilities and infrastructure and water resources planning and management studies in different geographies such as Australia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Africa. He is currently the Regional Technical Director for Excellence and Innovation at Stantec Middle East, based in Dubai, UAE, responsible for guiding the technical team through innovative and efficient approaches to project delivery, improving the technical excellence of the technical team, and ensuring implementation of QA/QC procedures to achieve design excellence. He is also responsible for technical leadership of project teams in planning and design of flood control structures, stormwater and wastewater drainage and water supply and distribution systems and water resources management and planning studies. Dr. Bozorgy has published several technical and research papers in major scientific journals and international conferences. Notably, he has authored a chapter in the “Urban Water Reuse Handbook, Chapter 3: Best Management Practices in Urban Water Cycle”, published by Taylor & Francis, 2015.He has been the Reviewer of the Journal of Water Resources Planning & Management of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction by Elsevier, member of scientific committees and reviewer of multiple international conferences on urban drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, and keynote speaker at multiple regional conferences on topics of urban drainage and stormwater management. Dr. Bozorgy has also been a university lecturer of Civil Engineering undergraduate courses, including Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, Hydraulics, Design of Hydraulic Structures, Environmental Engineering and Water & Wastewater Engineering.

Dr. Mohamed Dawoud

Senior Water Resources Advisor
Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD)

Bio: Dr Dawoud has more than 30 years of international experience in water resources management, hydrogeology, desalination, and desalination projects design and management, spanning 15 countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. As a senior water advisor at EAD, Dawoud has 20 years of strategic leadership managing the execution of the Department’s key projects and strategies since 2003. He was also in charge of resource mobilization, fundraising and management of annual $35 million portfolio in the areas of water resources, hydrogeology, desalination, aquifer artificial recharge, climate change, infrastructure, and governance. He has an established global network and relationships and provide consultancy services for international partners on water and agriculture sustainable development, including the World Bank, CEDARE, UN Environment, AOAD, ICARDA, ESCWA, UNESCO, FAO, AfDB, ICBA, bilateral agencies such as GIZ, JICA, and NASA, and non-governmental organizations. He is internationally known for my work and research on promoting innovative technologies on desalination and water treatment. Since 2010, I am leading research programs with Wageningen University, IHE Delft in Netherlands and Massey University in New Zeeland for promoting innovations in water resources, agriculture, agriaquaculture and climate change in arid regions. Dawoud has published 8 books, 7 book chapters and over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and regional and international conferences. The following is the list of some similar projects for the design and construction supervision of solar powered desalination plants in Egypt, UAE and KSA.

Throughout my career, have excelled in leading, coordinating, and implementing tasks using cutting-edge technologies within global organizations, collaborating with multi-disciplinary and multi-national team members.
Currently working for Sadara Chemical Company, providing invaluable strategic and tactical asset integrity and corrosion engineering support to ensure the safe, reliable, and sustainable operation of plants. Additionally, lead the Materials and Corrosion Laboratory Team, which plays a crucial role in failure analysis and fitness-for-service support.
Prior to esteemed position at Sadara, they contributed significantly to the success of BP Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey operations Midstream Integrity Management Team.
